Video Predictions

FEATURE ARTICLE:
Google Creates Video "Vending" Machine Online

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
It's really no secret that search giant, Google.com, wants to own the gateway to all media online.

They operate the Web's most popular search engine, largest free blogging service, and one of the largest news services online.

Recently, Google started offering video from their website. Google's video offerings so far, comprised mostly of documentaries, news, and daytime talk TV programs, represented a testing device to get the kinks out of their video delivery and search system.

Now, thanks to widespread availability of high-speed Internet access, inexpensive desktop video editing, and the emergence of portable video players, Google is steadily ramping up what will surely become the Web's first video "vending" machine.

Log on to Video.Google.com and search a limited number of available TV shows.

Curiously, most do not allow you to play video, only to see still screen shots of the show and read a transcript taken from closed captioning for the hearing impaired. However, based on the fact that Google recently started accepting video submissions through their website, this format is about to change drastically.

Originally, speculation about Google's new video service centered squarely on video "blogging, " where online pundits would share their thoughts in video rather than written form.

However, after releasing more details, it appears that Google maintains much grander plans for online video than just allowing people with a camcorder to rant and rave.

Currently Google is in the "gathering" stage. This means they are accepting video submissions from content providers with very few restrictions.

Basically, Google says they want original content, no porn or offensive content, and they want it in a very specific video format (mpeg2 or mpeg4 with MP3 codec).

Other than that, the sky is literally the limit. For specifics, log on to https://upload.video.google.com/ and click the "Find out more" link.

Right now it appears that Google decided to gather as much content as possible before offering any of it to the public, so you currently can't view any videos.

Google also states that they will allow content providers to either charge for their videos or allow viewers to watch them for free.

Google states they will collect the money, take a small fee, and pay the content provider. This alone should excite anyone who sells content online because the barrier to entry (high-speed servers, video delivery, credit card processing, customer service) just got a lot lower.

Plus, it's a safe bet that Google will find a way to integrate revenue producing videos into their pay-per-click program.

Combine all this with the recent emergence of truly portable digital video players (Sony PSP, Creative Lab's Zen Media Center), and beginning of video-on-demand through
the Internet just arrived. Now this doesn't mean growing pains won't occur.

The biggest drawback to searching for and finding online video is that each video file must have a text transcript associated with it in order to get properly indexed by a search engine.

In the beginning, this will slow the production of new material. Despite these and other growing pains, plan on Google opening up the first and largest video "vending" machine online within 12 months.

Viral Videos Now Prime-Time TV

- by Jim Edwards

© Jim Edwards - All Rights reserved
http://www.mysitesales.com/app/?af=367068
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

I flipped on VH1 yesterday and sat enthralled as a rap
artist with colorful language skills hosted "Web Junk 20"
where they played 20 videos plucked from the web and played
them on cable TV.

Last night I saw that Bravo Channel now airs a show called
"Outrageous and Contagious Viral Videos" in the afternoon
and evening.

The show features videos found online, focusing on funny,
creative and "blooper" style content (though they skipped
the foul-mouthed rap star).

Though most of the viral videos currently getting air time
on TV get ooh's, aah's and laughter, the fact that "viral
videos" are now a part of everyday reality has serious
business implications.

For those of you without a teenager or that one "special"
friend who always sends the latest joke or video every time
you open your in-box, let me bring you up to speed.

A "viral video" is a video played from a web page or as a
file on your computer. It goes "viral" because one person
sees it and passes it on to more people, who in turn pass it
on to their contacts (like a cold virus).

This social interaction is the gas in the video's tank to
help it drive around the web, sometimes getting millions of
views all over the world.

Now, once we get beyond the "jackass" stunts, bloopers, and
giggles, the principles that drive viral videos can help
generate serious traffic to business websites.

These videos go viral in a general market because they play
to interests and emotions we all share, including: laughter,
horror, lust, and sadness. In the absence of any other
common factors, we, as humans, all love to laugh, etc.

In business, we've learned that niche markets make it much
easier to sell a product or service because we can group
people based on profession, physical characteristics, and
interests.

For example, a dental supply salesman knows to target
dentists and hygienists, and would not bother calling on a
craft store.

On the web, a dog trainer knows they should target dog
lovers, and if they're really smart, they target owners of a
specific breed of dog.

Anyone who sells anything to anyone online can harness the
power of viral videos to get traffic to their website simply
by targeting their videos at a specific audience and
appealing to the same emotions that encourage people to pass
along other viral videos.

** Humor **
Put a smile on people's faces, make them laugh, give them a
moment's break from a hectic day and they'll love you for it
(and want to share it with their friends).

Who says you can't make a "how to" video for your customers
wearing a chicken suit!

** Short and Sweet **
The best videos that keep people's attention last under 6
minutes. When starting out, try to keep your videos under 2
minutes, especially if they contain mostly "commercial"
content.

** "Ask To Pass" **
Sometimes a simple sentence of "Hey, if you like this video,
feel free to pass it along to a friend" at the end of your
video will start the viral effect rolling.

** Go Where The Viewers Go **
Once you've distributed your video to your existing
customers and asked them to share it, put your videos out
where new people can see them.

Start with http://Video.Google.com, iFilm.com, and
YouTube.com and then keep your eyes open for new places to
post your videos to attract new viewers.

Strategic Name Branding

Reading many of the ads I receive from other marketers, I see a large number of marketers online today who are so busy pulling in cash they are outright forgetting the importance of ‘Personal Name Branding’. It has become so forgotten that experts and leaders in the field have stopped teaching marketers, How to even go about it.

Personal name branding is an extremely effective marketing method. If you have any doubt about this, let me give you a prime example – Oprah Winfrey is America’s Ultimate Brand name. Oprah Winfrey’s business has built her wealth by branding the ‘Oprah” name. Also, the business sticks with her prime expertise – challenging millions of viewers to live their best lives. The strategy has been a resounding success.

Current focus for marketers today seems to be on getting visitors to their site in any way they can and adding subscribers to opt-in lists. I’m not saying these things are not important, particularly building your opt-in list, but it is also equally important to have methods in place to brand yourself. Strategic name branding is a crucial part of the business so others online begin to recognize your name and associate your products with you personally.

Realistically, I believe most marketers prefer name brand advertising – it’s just we become so bombarded with the 'latest and greatest new marketing package releases' AND all the 'Free Advertising BLITZ campaigns', we get off track....

Branding your personal name, NOT products you promote or your website, but your OWN personal name can help you build more sales online in the long run. It assists in getting your name recognized for what you do or have done in the past and opens up income-making opportunities for the future, such as joint ventures and speaking engagement invitations.

When people know who you are, they are more inclined to buy because YOUR name is on the product. This has been proven many times over. While it’s true, I am not Oprah Winfrey, Willie Crawford or Jim Edwards, I have been around long enough and have the practical sense to know it is crucial to take steps to get your name out there every chance you get, if you want to realize long-term success in business.

The Power To Change Your World

Learning how to Draw Greatness Out Of You will give you immense power to change your situation, circumstances and your world. It doesn’t matter where you’ve been, it’s where you’re going that counts. It doesn’t matter where you are starting from, it’s where you finish. Look at where you are going, not where you are.

There’s a lot of POWER in the word GREAT. Greatness is relevant to you, me and all of us in both our personal and business life. Make greatness come out of your mouth DAILY. Every morning when you wake up, make it a point to say, “ There’s Something Great In Me”!

We all have motivational gifts within us that help us determine our greatness in organization, administration and leadership abilities as well as our role in the world. Here are just some of the Principle Actions to take:

1.) See The Big Picture
Visualize the picture you have for your personal and business life AND the end result. Identify your dreams by asking yourself these reflection questions: What do I want to accomplish? What are my goals? How do I want my life to end? What do I want on my epitaph? What do I want to be remembered for or as?

2.) Break Down Major Goals
Break down major goals into small tasks, one step at a time.

3.) Accept Responsibility For Your Own Success
Don’t rely on others to determine your successful outcome. Take responsibility for your own success by motivating yourself to become organized. Know what resources are needed and how to get them. Think ALL of this through.

4.) Know When To Delegate
Know what can and can not be delegated. Recognize what skills are needed to complete your project. If you lack ability in an area, it might be much better to delegate this task rather than taking the time to learn it and then implement it ( even if it means paying to have it done). If you feel strong about a certain task that you feel only you can achieve the desired result, don’t delegate this. Do it yourself, based upon the visualization you have for it.

5.) Remove Yourself From Distractions
I know you are hearing this frequently. I can not stress enough the importance of removing yourself from distractions to achieve your goal at hand.

SIDE NOTE:When I am focused on a project I need to complete, I consciously establish a time and how long I am going to read my emails. If I don’t get through all of them, they just have to wait until the next appointed time. You can’t allow yourself to get distracted by all the offers, I don’t care how good and urgent they sound. Believe me, most of these offers are going to stay around on the Internet for awhile. And if they don’t, so what if you miss this one. You can rest assured, another opportunity is going to follow shortly – as long as we have online marketers and the worldwide web has PLENTY!
Just ask yourself this question: Is this the wisest thing I can do right now and does it help me accomplish my purpose?

6.) Be Willing To Endure Reaction
When you start to do great things, “Expect Reaction” (both positive and negative). Don’t concern yourself with negative criticism from others and don’t become disappointed. Even in terms of positive reaction, guard against “gloating” to the point that it causes you to deviate what you need to do to complete the task.

7.) Be Disciplined
Be disciplined enough to complete the task as soon as possible. What’s the task? Get It Done!

8.) Allow Yourself To Feel Satisfaction
Feel deep satisfaction and fulfillment in seeing the completed task...the finished product. Set some time aside to totally experience the satisfaction of getting it done, in other words – Give Yourself A Pat On The Back!

9.) Move On
Don’t Stop Here! Move on to the next goal that is going to help you ultimately achieve your dream.

10.) Protect Your Dream
When you start achieving success, you may feel an strong urge to go out and shout it from the mountain top. You just want to tell everyone about your great success. Don’t Do It! Keep Your Mouth Closed About Your Dreams. Why do I say this? From My OWN personal experiences and observations.

As you are walking down your path of New Beginnings, recognize and KNOW that we live in a world where some people do NOT want to see you to achieve success, for whatever reason (the reason does not matter). Just know they exist and some will try to sabotage your efforts, steal and destroy your dream. Don’t Expose Your Dream To Others! Leave this matter between you and your Maker.

SIDE NOTE: If you are going to accomplish great things in your life, you can’t do it all by yourself. You are going to need support and help from others. It is very important you choose people to help you who are LOYAL. There’s not a price tag you can put on loyalty. My final point, "Don’t YOU Walk the Path of Judas and Don’t Let Judas Walk the Path With You"!

Imitation of Life!

Occasionally you will find I take a pause for a cause from discussing direct internet marketing topics to discuss a topic that appears to be totally unrelated. However, if you stick with me to the end, it usually is something "us" Internet Marketers can relate to.

Just last week, I was thinking of this classic movie from 1959, I used to watch in my younger years, (I’m giving my age away now) called “Imitation of Life". Every year I looked forward to seeing this movie. It was A REAL Tear Jerker!

The plot revolves around actress, Lora Meredith (Lana Turner) and her young daughter, Susie (Sandra Dee) who meet a black family Annie Johnson (Juanita Moore) and her daughter Sarah Lee (Susan Kohner). The movie has many twists and turns throughout their years together. One of the main points I remember is Annie’s daughter, tries to pass as white. One of her famous quotes in the movie is “I’m white...white...WHITE!” She goes through quite an ordeal trying to be someone she really wasn’t. If you are into classic movies, I’m sure you know about this one...

I just did a Google search for the Imitation of Life and found it at Amazon.com. This is a must have for my video library.

As Internet Marketers, we can sometimes lose sight of who we really are and what we are trying to accomplish. And many times not purposely, but you can get caught up in following the crowd and all the information you receive on a daily basis and the next thing you know, you are doing something totally different than what you set out to do. Changing courses is not always bad, but it can be if you are changing “unknowingly”.

This brings me to an article I want to share with you from www.leadpower.com – Today’s Action Principal and eSupport Networking. The title is called “Real”.

REAL:
When it comes to your life, don't settle for an inferior imitation. Go with the real thing. Don't spend your time just staying busy when you can instead be actually accomplishing something. Don't settle for overindulgence when you can have real nourishment.

Rather than wasting your time trying to take from others, put your efforts into creating real value. Instead of merely keeping up appearances and pretending to be someone you're not, find ways to express the genuine, unique person you really are.
Why put your effort into cutting corners when that same effort can be invested in doing it right? Why settle for a cheap imitation of life when you can have the real thing?

Don't be content to envy others for what they've achieved when that same energy can be used to achieve for yourself. You deserve the best, and you have what it takes to make that happen.

Life is best when it is authentic. Insist on the real thing.

5 Day Course:Power List-Building - Conclusion

Today's the last day of this 5-day email course. You'll hear from me again only via my ezine, or when I have exciting news for you that I'll email to you separately.

Right now, I'm going to share 2 currently under-tapped free resources you can use to boost the downloads of almost any valuable free product you're promoting.

The last tool is a PC-based software that lets you use the Overture.com search tool without leaving your desktop. Enjoy!

1. ZDNET's upload a file tool.. http://upload.cnet.com

It's free to submit your valuable freeware, shareware and other commercial or non-commercial material for possible inclusion on one of the most popular download sites on the Internet.

You can upload useful files like ebooks, software and other useful material to their web site and possibly get hundreds of people quickly downloadingm your products and using them.

Depending on your goals, many of these people could very well become your subscribers and even customers. I've seen many people successfully use this method to get quality free visitors to their lists without using any crazy or unethical traffic generation methods and ideas that don't even last. This one however does last and could get you experiencing 100, 1,000 to as much as 1,000,000 downloads of whatever useful, valuable material you're able to submit.
And it's free to do so. Get details at: http://upload.cnet.com/

2. Tucows Software Library... http://submit.tucows.com

Tucows works for you just like ZDNet. The only difference here is you can get listed in Tucows much quicker than in ZDNet--unless you pay ZDNet around $199 for a quick submission, your software will be uploaded anytime within 6-8 weeks after you submit. Tucows on the other hand will accept your free submissions easily and quickly review you and upload your software within 5-7 business days.

HOT TIP: Get Listed At The TOP at Tucows.com!

There's even a little ethical technique you can use to get to the top of Tucows listings. Just make sure the title of your product starts with a number like (7 Power Steps Ebook) or a letter close to the top like (Autoresponder Gold Ebook)
or (Creative Writing For Success Ebook) etc.,

The reason for this is it appears Tucows lists their submissions in ALPHABETICAL order... that's a plus for almost every submitter who knows about it (now you do:o) You can register with them free and submit your software here: http://submit.tucows.com

3. Keyword Miner (Like having Overture.com on your desktop!) http://www.engineready.com/freeware/keywordminer/index.html

Another good way to quickly discover what the public is searching for and what you can hone in on and offer to them is to have this useful tool working for you. It's a free Windows software tool for finding the perfect set of keywords that prospects will search for to FIND you and thus bring you quality traffic.

You've probably heard it time and time again.. Overture.com is a great place to get traffic to your new web site for under $50. Well, in the past you had to travel all the way to overture.com to check out which keywords were hot and what theme you should base your next product or service on (Overture.com has a useful search tool on their site that you can use to find out the most searched for keywords and variations of them for the past month).

Keyword Miner's creators make it possible for you to search for these keywords at Overture.com *without* ever leaving your desktop. You just download their 100% free tool. Enter what words you feel people would use to search for your new niche product, and Keyword Miner will connect you to Overture.com (and several other top search engines), so you can find out how many people were interested in that product in the past month.

This tool is 100% free - There's No Advertsing - No Nag Screens - No 'Spyware' - No Hassle and they even thrown in free support - The latter is actually something new to me - I mean getting 'free' support with 'free software';-) Anyway, get full details here:
http://www.engineready.com/freeware/keywordminer/index.html

I hope you find these tools helpful.

That's the end of our email coaching time together. If you have specific questions related to any of the topics we've treated so far, just visit my blog and leave a comment at:

Act On Your Dreams

I hope all is going well for all of you out there and you are reaping the benefits of the busiest time of the year in networking. Below is a piece I saw by Max Steingart and wanted to pass it on to you. It's a timeless piece!

DESIRE IS THE STARTING POINT FOR SUCCESS

The first thing that will contribute to reaching your goal is that you simply want to reach it badly enough. You must learn how to desire with sufficient intensity to be successful.

If you have the desire you have the power to attain success. You can really have anything you want in life if you go after it. But you have to want it.

As a drowning soul desires air, as a shipwrecked person craves fresh water, so must you feel that intense, eager, insistent, demanding, ravenous desire for your success.

Your desire for success must be so strong within you that it becomes the very breath of your life. It must be your first thought when you wake up, and your last thought when you go to bed at night.

You can have anything you want if you go after it with intensity.

YOU MUST ACT ON YOUR DREAMS

You have to make your 0wn 0pportunities. Your future isn't a matter of chance, it's a matter of your choice. It's not something that you wait for, it's something that you pursue.

Don't wait for extraordinary 0pportunities. Seize common occasions and make them great. Opportunity sometimes comes disguised in the form of misfortune, or temporary defeat.

Start today, right where you are. Distant fields will always look greener. Yet, golden opportunities are all around you.

You can live your dreams if you pursue them.

Max Steingart ©2002

Success Is Inside of You!

Explore the possibilities, unleash the dream within you. Success is not a destination that you arrive at, it's a journey. Success is not money, wealth and power, it's being all that you can be with God's help and becoming all that you can be as you take this journey called life.

“Success is knowing your purpose in life, growing to reach your maximum potential and sowing seeds to benefit others.” John Maxwell

1.KNOWING. Do you know your purpose? Have you written it down? Why are you here? What do you want out of life? Yogi Berra: ‘If you don't know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else.”

2. GROWING. Success comes as the result of growing to our potential. It has been said that potential is God's gift to us and what we do with it is our gift to Him. Henry Ford, ”There is no man living who isn't capable of doing more than we think we can do. We have nearly limitless potential, yet few ever try to reach it.”

TIPS: 1. CONCENTRATE ON ONE MAIN GOAL. No one ever reached their potential by scattering themselves in 20 different directions. Reaching your potential requires FOCUS.

2. CONCENTRATE ON CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT. Resources for your personal
growth.

EACH DAY YOU CAN BECOME A LITTLE BIT BETTER THAN YOU WERE YESTERDAY. You will find that what you GET as a result of your growth is not nearly important as what you BECOME along the way. The potential for greatness lies within you!

3.SOWING. Sow seeds that benefit others. Without that, the success journey can be a lonely and shallow experience. We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give!

Zig Ziglar: “Help enough other people get what they want and you will end up getting what you want.” There is tremendous gratification and personal reward that cannot be measured in helping people. That's why I am committed to helping you succeed.

In the Smithsonian Institute, Washington, DC…there's a video of speech given by President John F. Kennedy to congress, on May 25th, 1961. It records the stirring words of an impossible goal that stunned scientists and the nation.

He said, “I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal before the decade is out of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to earth.”

IT WAS RIDICULOUS, WILD, IMPOSSIBLE! Even some people at NASA thought it couldn't be done. The technology required to make it happen didn't even exist, and they weren't sure that it could exist.

Yet, NASA, despite all the doubts, took on the challenge and on July 16th, 1969, Apollo Eleven lifted off from Pad 39 at Kennedy Space Center and began a journey of 244,930 miles to the moon. Four days later, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, Jr. landed the lunar module, Eagle on the surface of the moon...

and 500 million people watched on television as Armstrong took his first step into the powder fine gray dust of the moon and uttered those famous words, “That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”

WHAT HAPPENED? In the blink of an eye, John F. Kennedy's speech made a lunar landing change from an impossible dream to an obtainable target. We didn't have the technology to do it, but it became POSSIBLE because of a change in ATTITUDE.

WHEN OUR ATTITUDES OUTDISTANCE OUR ABILITIES, EVEN THE IMPOSSIBLE BECOMES POSSIBLE!

Yogi Berra, “Life is like baseball. It's 95 per cent mental and the other half is physical.”

Sign in office “YESTERDAY ENDED LAST NIGHT.” “ONE THING I DO. Forgetting what is behind, and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me.” (Philippians 3:13)

Sign over locker room door of Phoenix Suns. A quote from Bill Russell, famous center for Boston Celtics: “The game is scheduled and we have to play it. WE MIGHT AS WELL WIN.”

During Russell's time with the Celtics they won 11 NBA Title Championships in 13 years.”

You have a life to live, a mission to accomplish

My question to you today is, what are you going to do with it? WE MIGHT AS WELL WIN!
