5 Day Course:Power List-Building - Conclusion

Today's the last day of this 5-day email course. You'll hear from me again only via my ezine, or when I have exciting news for you that I'll email to you separately.

Right now, I'm going to share 2 currently under-tapped free resources you can use to boost the downloads of almost any valuable free product you're promoting.

The last tool is a PC-based software that lets you use the Overture.com search tool without leaving your desktop. Enjoy!

1. ZDNET's upload a file tool.. http://upload.cnet.com

It's free to submit your valuable freeware, shareware and other commercial or non-commercial material for possible inclusion on one of the most popular download sites on the Internet.

You can upload useful files like ebooks, software and other useful material to their web site and possibly get hundreds of people quickly downloadingm your products and using them.

Depending on your goals, many of these people could very well become your subscribers and even customers. I've seen many people successfully use this method to get quality free visitors to their lists without using any crazy or unethical traffic generation methods and ideas that don't even last. This one however does last and could get you experiencing 100, 1,000 to as much as 1,000,000 downloads of whatever useful, valuable material you're able to submit.
And it's free to do so. Get details at: http://upload.cnet.com/

2. Tucows Software Library... http://submit.tucows.com

Tucows works for you just like ZDNet. The only difference here is you can get listed in Tucows much quicker than in ZDNet--unless you pay ZDNet around $199 for a quick submission, your software will be uploaded anytime within 6-8 weeks after you submit. Tucows on the other hand will accept your free submissions easily and quickly review you and upload your software within 5-7 business days.

HOT TIP: Get Listed At The TOP at Tucows.com!

There's even a little ethical technique you can use to get to the top of Tucows listings. Just make sure the title of your product starts with a number like (7 Power Steps Ebook) or a letter close to the top like (Autoresponder Gold Ebook)
or (Creative Writing For Success Ebook) etc.,

The reason for this is it appears Tucows lists their submissions in ALPHABETICAL order... that's a plus for almost every submitter who knows about it (now you do:o) You can register with them free and submit your software here: http://submit.tucows.com

3. Keyword Miner (Like having Overture.com on your desktop!) http://www.engineready.com/freeware/keywordminer/index.html

Another good way to quickly discover what the public is searching for and what you can hone in on and offer to them is to have this useful tool working for you. It's a free Windows software tool for finding the perfect set of keywords that prospects will search for to FIND you and thus bring you quality traffic.

You've probably heard it time and time again.. Overture.com is a great place to get traffic to your new web site for under $50. Well, in the past you had to travel all the way to overture.com to check out which keywords were hot and what theme you should base your next product or service on (Overture.com has a useful search tool on their site that you can use to find out the most searched for keywords and variations of them for the past month).

Keyword Miner's creators make it possible for you to search for these keywords at Overture.com *without* ever leaving your desktop. You just download their 100% free tool. Enter what words you feel people would use to search for your new niche product, and Keyword Miner will connect you to Overture.com (and several other top search engines), so you can find out how many people were interested in that product in the past month.

This tool is 100% free - There's No Advertsing - No Nag Screens - No 'Spyware' - No Hassle and they even thrown in free support - The latter is actually something new to me - I mean getting 'free' support with 'free software';-) Anyway, get full details here:
http://www.engineready.com/freeware/keywordminer/index.html

I hope you find these tools helpful.

That's the end of our email coaching time together. If you have specific questions related to any of the topics we've treated so far, just visit my blog and leave a comment at:

Act On Your Dreams

I hope all is going well for all of you out there and you are reaping the benefits of the busiest time of the year in networking. Below is a piece I saw by Max Steingart and wanted to pass it on to you. It's a timeless piece!

DESIRE IS THE STARTING POINT FOR SUCCESS

The first thing that will contribute to reaching your goal is that you simply want to reach it badly enough. You must learn how to desire with sufficient intensity to be successful.

If you have the desire you have the power to attain success. You can really have anything you want in life if you go after it. But you have to want it.

As a drowning soul desires air, as a shipwrecked person craves fresh water, so must you feel that intense, eager, insistent, demanding, ravenous desire for your success.

Your desire for success must be so strong within you that it becomes the very breath of your life. It must be your first thought when you wake up, and your last thought when you go to bed at night.

You can have anything you want if you go after it with intensity.

YOU MUST ACT ON YOUR DREAMS

You have to make your 0wn 0pportunities. Your future isn't a matter of chance, it's a matter of your choice. It's not something that you wait for, it's something that you pursue.

Don't wait for extraordinary 0pportunities. Seize common occasions and make them great. Opportunity sometimes comes disguised in the form of misfortune, or temporary defeat.

Start today, right where you are. Distant fields will always look greener. Yet, golden opportunities are all around you.

You can live your dreams if you pursue them.

Max Steingart ©2002

Success Is Inside of You!

Explore the possibilities, unleash the dream within you. Success is not a destination that you arrive at, it's a journey. Success is not money, wealth and power, it's being all that you can be with God's help and becoming all that you can be as you take this journey called life.

“Success is knowing your purpose in life, growing to reach your maximum potential and sowing seeds to benefit others.” John Maxwell

1.KNOWING. Do you know your purpose? Have you written it down? Why are you here? What do you want out of life? Yogi Berra: ‘If you don't know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else.”

2. GROWING. Success comes as the result of growing to our potential. It has been said that potential is God's gift to us and what we do with it is our gift to Him. Henry Ford, ”There is no man living who isn't capable of doing more than we think we can do. We have nearly limitless potential, yet few ever try to reach it.”

TIPS: 1. CONCENTRATE ON ONE MAIN GOAL. No one ever reached their potential by scattering themselves in 20 different directions. Reaching your potential requires FOCUS.

2. CONCENTRATE ON CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT. Resources for your personal
growth.

EACH DAY YOU CAN BECOME A LITTLE BIT BETTER THAN YOU WERE YESTERDAY. You will find that what you GET as a result of your growth is not nearly important as what you BECOME along the way. The potential for greatness lies within you!

3.SOWING. Sow seeds that benefit others. Without that, the success journey can be a lonely and shallow experience. We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give!

Zig Ziglar: “Help enough other people get what they want and you will end up getting what you want.” There is tremendous gratification and personal reward that cannot be measured in helping people. That's why I am committed to helping you succeed.

In the Smithsonian Institute, Washington, DC…there's a video of speech given by President John F. Kennedy to congress, on May 25th, 1961. It records the stirring words of an impossible goal that stunned scientists and the nation.

He said, “I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal before the decade is out of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to earth.”

IT WAS RIDICULOUS, WILD, IMPOSSIBLE! Even some people at NASA thought it couldn't be done. The technology required to make it happen didn't even exist, and they weren't sure that it could exist.

Yet, NASA, despite all the doubts, took on the challenge and on July 16th, 1969, Apollo Eleven lifted off from Pad 39 at Kennedy Space Center and began a journey of 244,930 miles to the moon. Four days later, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, Jr. landed the lunar module, Eagle on the surface of the moon...

and 500 million people watched on television as Armstrong took his first step into the powder fine gray dust of the moon and uttered those famous words, “That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”

WHAT HAPPENED? In the blink of an eye, John F. Kennedy's speech made a lunar landing change from an impossible dream to an obtainable target. We didn't have the technology to do it, but it became POSSIBLE because of a change in ATTITUDE.

WHEN OUR ATTITUDES OUTDISTANCE OUR ABILITIES, EVEN THE IMPOSSIBLE BECOMES POSSIBLE!

Yogi Berra, “Life is like baseball. It's 95 per cent mental and the other half is physical.”

Sign in office “YESTERDAY ENDED LAST NIGHT.” “ONE THING I DO. Forgetting what is behind, and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me.” (Philippians 3:13)

Sign over locker room door of Phoenix Suns. A quote from Bill Russell, famous center for Boston Celtics: “The game is scheduled and we have to play it. WE MIGHT AS WELL WIN.”

During Russell's time with the Celtics they won 11 NBA Title Championships in 13 years.”

You have a life to live, a mission to accomplish

My question to you today is, what are you going to do with it? WE MIGHT AS WELL WIN!

Warmest regards,

Self-Improvement for Successful Leadership

With all the ups and downs I have experienced in life, I would say the one human trait that has helped me overcome difficult situations is understanding the importance of "reflection" and "renewal". Every once in a while I have to pull myself away from all the daily activities, chores and interruptions and just focus on Christine.

Take a pause and ask:
1. What should I keep doing?
2. What should I stop doing?
3. What should I start doing to be more effective?

No matter what your situation is in life, whether you are stone broke or in pursuit of becoming a great leader in a business; honestly working through these 3 simple questions will get you through AND to the next level. I know this to be from my own experiences in both personal affairs and managing a team of employees.

Today's "Featured Article"
Five-Steps Strategy to Successful Leadership By Anandrahi JS

Large number of books has been written on the qualities which a leader must have to lead people or a team to victory. Volumes have been written on how to develop those qualities. This article is a brief introduction to successful leadership. In fact, good leaders are made or created not born. Any body can become an effective leader with the help of his strong will-power and constantly developing through a process of self-analysis, training and experience. Here is a simple five-point ladder which can take up you to the place of a successful leader.

1. A GRAND VISION

A leader can’t exist without a grand vision. Every successful leader has a grand vision of the things he want to do – the aim he wants to achieve. Only a grand vision can spur you to great action. Complete and detailed map of the vision is imprinted in the mind of a leader.

2. HE KNOW HIS WEAKNESSES AN STRENGTHS

A wise leader is always aware about his weaknesses and strengths. With right evaluation of his traits it is not difficult for him to face his opponents or win wars. He uses his strengths to its maximum capability and avoids the dangerous consequences of his weakness by employing able persons. If he does not know computer he get a computer operator in his office. If he doesn’t know maths he keeps an expert accountant to do the job.

3. DETERMINED TO GROWTH

A good leader is as determined as Himalayas to ensure continuous growth of his project. He is able to work for more than 24 hours in a day and complete his pending work. Growth is his primary objective. And he leaves no stone unturned to hit it.

4. DEVELOPS SECOND LINE OF LEADERS

Theodore Roosevelt said that “the best executive is the one who has sense enough to pick good men to do what he wants done.” A sensible and wise leader knows that he can’t handle all the responsibilities alone and for ever. There fore he always train talented persons as a second line of leadership. This line handle is always ready to execute his projects carefully. It is also his master mind group. A leader can get amazing power only if he has very able persons – making second line of leadership.

5. HAVE TOTAL COMMITMENT

A great leader is always immensely committed to his dreams and his people. No difficulty or opposition has the power to daunt his enthusiasm for total commitment. It is with him till he lives. And this great commitment forms an aura of dynamism around him. His followers are mesmerised by his aura.

I am ending this short article with the words of great management guru Peter Drucker – “Leadership is not magnetic personality—that can just as well be a glib tongue. It is not making friends and influencing people—that is flattery. Leadership is lifting a person's vision to higher sights, the raising of a person's performance to a higher standard, the building of a personality beyond its normal limitations.

How to Get Mean and Lean Focus

Hello World,

Being subscribed to various newsletters and ezines has its advantages and disadvantages. Advantage:You receive some excellent information and product recommendation and reviews. Disadvantage: You will definitely be bombarded with emails when the next, new and "hot" offer comes along. I woke up this morning thinking it is both financially and physically impossible to accept every new offer that comes along, no matter how good it sounds.

I was looking at all those downloads from "117 Christmas Gift Giveway" that I've yet to see how they will help me in my current businesses. Willie Crawford was making that same point in his new special report: Master Blueprint - The Master Blueprint of Internet Marketing. Willie shares concepts of How to "Make It Happen" In a Major Way in 2006. I was so impressed with Willie's brutal honesty about the internet marketer's focus (or the lack of. Reading this report was indeed mentally refreshing for me.

Focus and Fear of Success - The Biggest Monkey on Your Back?
by Jack Humphrey
http://power-linking-profits.com

If you have been on the internet for awhile, you know that there are millions of people trying anything and everything to get your attention. They want in your wallet. It's a great big money grab out there folks, and the net has become the biggest marketing arena on the planet, driving whole industries and generating Billions of dollars in sales.

So what's the problem? Well, none if you are one of the small businesses with focus. A whole lot of problems if you lack focus.

There are myriad small business opportunities on the net today. And if you do your research and find something you want to associate with, or you create a product for a well-researched target market, you are well on your way to financial success. Or are you?

You see the more you become active on the net as either someone looking for the right opportunity, or as someone who has found the right opportunity already, the more you are bombarded with choices. Everyday you get emails saying that the next best thing since sliced bread has come along.

The new "thing" demands your attention and you get nervous that you might be missing out on another opportunity for financial success.

But don't you already have one? At least, haven't you been presented with several great opportunities in the last week? So why on earth take a serious look at yet another? Why fragment the time you need to spend on your current business with all the marketing it takes to get yet another off the ground and profitable?

What I am talking about here is something I call "Sign-up-Itis." (Not to be confused with Sinusitis, which can be just as debilitating.)

It goes like this: You find your focus, you are fired up. All is good and you are ready to start working on the hundreds of little things you need to do to get traffic and make sales. You need to get good search engine positioning, you need a links campaign, you have to research ezines in your niche and place ads, you need to set up joint ventures, you need to create and update content on your site, set up a merchant account, a delivery system, and the list goes on from there.

Then you get an email from a friend or associate telling you that you HAVE to check out the latest and greatest. You do. It's an awesome opportunity. You look at your plate and it's already full with your current project, but the plate has a lot of things on it you really don't enjoy doing. It's a lot of work to make any business pay off, as you can see from the short list above.

"It's Much More Fun To Think About Success Than It Is To Do The Work It Takes To Achieve It"

But this NEW thing is exciting, fresh, new. It draws you in and it's MUCH more fun to think about success than it is to do the work it takes to achieve it, so you buy in. You get a ton of tools to start this new venture. It's all overwhelming, especially since you have gone back to your first venture and realized you now have TWO great things that can both make you money, but they BOTH need your attention on a grand scale in order to see profit.

Now, here is the part where most people give up. They say to themselves "Internet marketing is nothing more than a series of steps that I cannot complete. I am always excited when I get started on something, but when it comes down to DOING what I start, it gets hard and doesn't happen as fast as I would like it to."

Let me make one thing clear right now: It is not the net's fault for not providing us with real opportunity.

Opportunity abounds and is right there for us to snatch up and achieve success. Never let yourself fall into the trap of reasoning your way out of success. "It's not for me." "I can't do this - it's for people much better with
computers and internet marketing than me."

The problem lies with your focus and your fear of success. You must CHOOSE the opportunity you are passionate about, or create a product you stand behind and love, and then hunker down for the long-haul! Make yourself do everything you are taught to do to build your business and build it - all the way or not at all.

It should be no surprise the next time you get an email with the next best thing inside. You should say to yourself "That's great! Another opportunity for someone has just been born! But I am busy with MY business and cannot take on another venture at this time."

We Do It On Purpose

Lack of focus is sometimes a purposeful self-defeating tactic your subconscious uses to keep you from success. Success is NOT a destination. It's a journey.

And that journey scares the hell out of 99% of normal, everyday people. So be it. It IS scary to think of radical life changes, even if they are for what you consider to be far better than your current situation!

But don't let a lack of focus and your fear of success tear you away from your dreams. USE your fear and confront it, right now. Today.

Make hard decisions and stick to them, then begin the process of working on a focused, tight marketing campaign to make whatever venture you choose the venture that sets you free.

Wear electronic blinders. Keep lean and mean and only take on new responsibilities that will be good for your CURRENT business. Throw the rest in the trash.

We all know there are tons of opportunities out there. That is a fact. It's time now to get the stars out of your eyes, choose your niche, your product, your affiliate program or your MLM, and get to work. Make a vow not to stop until you are where you want to be financially.

The question is not "Can you really make money online?" This has been proven time and again over the years by thousands of people, many of whom you read about all the time.

The question is "Do you really want to be one of those people, or are you stuck in a cycle of constantly sabotaging your success with a lack of focus?"

The cure for Sign-up-itis is focus and hard work. Success is something you decide to achieve one day. It's that decision that is often the biggest hurdle any future success story has to conquer.

How to Get Started Easily With Your Business Blog

Hello World,

Although I was hearing much ado about blogging and all the benefits affiliate marketers can receive, I put it off for the longest. I knew once I committed myself to become a blogger, I would need to update my blog site regularly with high quality content. I was seriously asking myself, will I really have the time to do this? What on earth will I write about? Where will I find quality content?

Finally at the end of December 2005, I had a stern talk with myself and decided 2006 will not come in without me having a blog site published. I made myself "just do it". And now that I have, I am truly loving it. I look forward to arriving at Christine's Internet Marketing Spot. It may not be perfect, but that's okay. I'll get better with time. I've even tuned into Google Adsense Ads.

TODAY'S RECOMMENDED "FEATURE ARTICLE"

A blog is a simple tool which all affiliate marketers should be utilising to explode their affiliate sales.

I set up my blog in about 15 minutes at http://www.blogger.com it’s a completely free service, and it’s really easy to set-up. I followed directions on an excellent article on getting a new website listed in Google in 48hrs check it out here, http://www.scamfreezone.com/gg/ . I just followed the advice in the article and got started with no problems in no time.

I've been doing a lot of research with regards to blogging and came across a case of a 19 year old kid who was making something ridiculous like $50,000 a year with a blog on mobile phones, from his bedroom! So clearly there is a good earning potential through blogs, but they do take time to grow and build up a readership. Treat your blog as a marathon not a sprint, because it will take time.

Blogs provide a very simple, quick and easy means to add fresh content to your website. As I’m sure you’ve heard many times over ‘content is king’ in the search engines eyes and if you can provide high quality, regularly updated content your website should benefit with regards to your search engine ranking.

By providing fresh, high quality relevant content you will gain an increase of both first time visitors and repeat visitors, they will come back to check out your new content. Providing it’s interesting, relevant and useful to them. You will begin to build relationships with your readers, increasing your credibility and building their trust in you.

These repeat visitors will be exposed to your messages more and begin to trust you and your recommendations. This in turn will fuel sales and referrals. Just make sure you don’t recommend a product you haven’t tried because if it is bad you will lose all credibility!

Never recommend something you haven’t tried and tested your self.

You want to send traffic directly to your blog, do it through multi-dimensional strategies. Have a subscriber box for your newsletter to build your list from your blog. Use it as an exit pop-up from your main site or thank you page for new subscribers, directing them to relevant content immediately. As once your prospects have got to know you through the blog they are much more likely to explore your website and check out whatever you are offering.

Whenever you sign-up for an affiliate program or buy a product, review it in your blog and be brutally honest, your readers will love you for it. Take a completely unbiased view point and talk about both the positives and negatives of each product. In essence you are providing more of an insight into the product than the sales page itself, almost a sample, this will help convert those prospects that are ‘sitting on the fence’ so to speak. Obviously when you review your affiliate products, make sure that you use your affiliate links.

It has been shown that prospects are 7-10 times more likely to buy from a blog recommendation than from other sources!

Other ways that you can generate extra income through your blog are through the Google ad sense program, selling banner/link space as your traffic increases or as I mentioned earlier by adding you own opt-in sign up form to which you send your newsletter or other targeted offers.

Your blog can be syndicated using RSS, which I won’t go into here, that’s another article. But savvy webmasters can use your blog content on their web pages. This benefits them as they have regularly updated fresh content for their website and benefits you through increased exposure and free targeted traffic.

Be passionate about your blog, love your blog. If you do not then it will become obvious through your posts and you are unlikely to be anywhere near as successful as you could be.

Add to your blog regularly provide good quality content and reviews and you will be on your way to blogging success.

Can You Pass This “e” Marketer Test?

As an internet marketer who has been on the scene for awhile, I still find myself fighting against falling behind in this rapid ever-changing world of the Internet. Just when I think I am up to speed on major marketing techniques or new information technology, it changes. Something else comes along, new and improved. We’re told this is a “must have” if you want to succeed with your online business. It becomes all the buzz in the major marketing community.

I can only imagine how beginning internet marketers may be feeling overwhelmed and sometimes ready to give up. Many new team members are signing on based upon promotions that say “no experience or special skills required – you will receive complete training to be successful with your own home based business.” The sad truth is, many new affiliates and marketers are joining with no real idea of what will be truly required to thrive and survive in the “e” marketing world.

I recall during my earliest days, about 5 or 6 years ago, I joined a particular income opportunity affiliate program. The program informed new marketers to go to their forum first to find answers to their questions, prior to emailing upline sponsors. Also, to use the forum to stay updated and informed on what was happening.

I would go to the forums just to see what was being asked and answered, which did most of the time, answer any questions I may have had. One day there was an announcement to copy and paste some text to our affiliate site for a site change that was being made.

Well, a brand new member signed in and posted, "will someone help him because I do not know how to copy and paste." This call for help sparked off a fury of post after post from the more experienced marketers. The comments went from actually calling the guy stupid to an entire dialogue of the need to have separate forums for “newbies” who don’t know what they are doing. Quite frankly, I felt embarrassed for the guy, I can only imagine how he may have felt.

I immediately emailed my sponsor and ask him to go to the forum and read these posts. I told my sponsor, after seeing these type of posts, I would never ask a question in a forum. And, I would definitely not send any of my newly recruited members there to possibly be subjected to such comments and embarrassment. Even though this incident did not directly involve me, it actually lead to me staying out of forums for a long period of time and disliking the word “newbie”.

Here within the past couple of years, I have eased back in the forum arena with a pleasant surprise. The forum moderators are actively taking a stand, prohibiting abusive and flaming comments in posts toward other members. The more experienced marketers are taking a more considerate and supportive role toward new marketers. This is a welcome change which presents a more user friendly environment for beginning internet marketers.

Also, I believe the development of “newbie” sites (as you would call it) has been very beneficial for beginning “e”marketers. They can now be referred to sites with resources and training to elevate the most novice internet skills. And the experienced marketers can stay focused on income-producing and promotional techniques and strategies to build their income and team.

However, I am still felt prompted to share with both prospective and beginning marketers of the need to obtain certain basic skills which will enable you to grow more rapidly in this ever-changing internet marketing world.

Some of you experienced marketers may disagree with me here, but it is my opinion and thought that all “effective or successful” internet marketers are proficient in the following four areas:

Beginning Marketers - Can You Pass This “E” Marketing Test?

Personal Computer Skills:

1. Can you use a computer keyboard and mouse?

2. Can you create documents in a word processor?

3. Do you know how to copy, paste and save text documents?

4. Do you know how to use a html editor such as FrontPage?

5. Do you know how to install and update software?

6. Do you know how to maintain and update anti-virus software?

7. Do you know how to save documents, pictures and other data files to disks and cd-roms?

8. Are you familiar with scanners, digital cameras, printers, speakers and cd-roms?

Internet Skills:

1. Do you know basic surfing and navigation using a web browser?

2. Can you use search engines and effective search methods?

3. Do you know how to download programs, products and other files?
4. Do you know how to print web pages?

5. Do you know how to upload html pages to the internet using ftp?

Email Skills:
1. Do you know how to set up and maintain an email program?

2. Do you know how to compose, send, receive, organize, save and print email messages?

3. Do you know how to send, receive and open attachments safely?

4. Do you know how to manage contacts in the email address book?

Staying Updated With Changes:
1. Do you learn new skills by taking classes or enrolling in courses?

2. Do you subscribe to newsletters and ezines to earn new trends, resources, tools and applications?

3. Do you use and improve skills daily?

So, How Do You Rate As An “E” Marketer?

These are the basic skills anyone must possess who wants to succeed in an online business.

New Business and Social Networking for Internet Marketers

Welcome to Christine’s blogspot for internet marketing. Here, I discuss my thoughts, opinions and share useful resources for online marketing of MLM: Multi-level marketing, affiliate and network marketing programs.

Business and Social Networking:
Today’s discussion is Business and Social Networking. First, let me tell you how I came upon this topic. Last week as I was reading through my emails, I came across one that really peeked my interest. The ad read:

“You’re going to love this new site I found for social and business networking. It’s free to join and advertise in this business directory. You can even win cash and prizes for the best profile. You’re invited to post a free profile on my site. Many serious entrepreneurs will view your contact and business information”.

I read to the end of the email and noticed the person’s address was in Columbus, Ohio, where I currently reside. I clicked the link and arrived at DirectMatches.com – People Connection. I did indeed join free and posted my business profile at the site. AND, my upline sponsor is right here in Columbus!

Now, those who truly know me often describe me as a “straight shooter” or “tell it like it is” kind of person. So, I am telling you the honest- to- goodness truth when I say, immediately upon posting my profile, I started receiving a slew of email notifications of people wanting to be added to my personal contact list. It was a bit overwhelming at first, I had seen nothing exactly like this.

As Internet Marketers, we have focused so much on building our list, capturing names and email addresses, it seemed rather ironic to have people actually asking me to add them to my contact list. What A Welcome Change!

Since joining, I have connected with some of the most terrific people from all walks of life at all levels of internet marketing experience. Overall, it’s a connection of like-minded entrepreneurs committed to helping others, as well as themselves, achieve business success. Of course you know they eventually want to promote their business to you. However, it’s done in a more subtle way.

I decided this is so good, I have to share it with others. I was in the process of putting my thoughts together of what I was going to write, but thanks to Cody Moya, he just freed up a couple of hours of my time. I have been a subscriber of Cody’s Business Marketing Tips (BMT) newsletter since February 2005. Cody featured an article “Indirect Advertising” in his Jnauary 20, 2006 newsletter. Although, I call it "subtle advertising" while Cody refers to it as “indirect”, regardless, I’m sure you will get the point. Here it Is...

.:FEATURED ARTICLE:.
Indirect Advertising

I am reasonably certain that anyone reading this article is familiar with all the free online advertising methods such as the all-too familiar Sp-m emails, Classified Ads, FFA pages, Banners, Text Ads, Traffic Exchanges, Newsletters, Guaranteed Visitors, Paid to Read, Paid to Join, Link Swaps, Pop-ups, as well as many other types of 'In-Your-Face' advertising, some of which may have been dreamed up since this article was written.

What I would like you to consider is this: What do you think when you see this kind of stuff yourself? More to the point, what is your 'Frame of Mind' at that moment?

My guess is you think, "Here we go again..." and your shields go up. You pull up your waders and trudge on through, oblivious to the thousands of messages ricocheting off your armor as you collect a few more hits for your own website promotion or product offer.

With Millions of would be online Millionaires doing this hour after hour and day after day, is it any wonder that the Internet slows down to a crawl and even stops at times?

Now consider the "Frame of Mind" of a visitor that came looking for you to see what you are doing. Maybe even to ask a few questions and give you permission to email them. Does this sound like a more productive environment?

The online equivalent to this scene is being played out today and every day and you can participate for free. It is called 'Social Networking' and more information on this is easily found with your favorite search engine.

Imagine if you are no longer perceived as another 'Salesman' but as a "Fellow Business Person" with similar problems and often good ideas for their solutions. Much like Napoleon Hill wrote about in his world renown-book, "Think and Grow Rich", you could be a team member of a virtual Mastermind Group. Chamber of Commerce Mixers have been an example of this approach for years and have been very successful for some who get it. Now you can accomplish nearly the same thing for your home business from your own computer.

Keep in mind, this should not be just another place to plaster your links. The strongest relationships are formed by giving first. Do a mental inventory and come up with something you know or have that would help others more than yourself. Find a way to offer it with no strings attached, no signup or email address required, just give it freely. I know it sounds crazy in this dog-eat-dog world, but trust me it works.

Alright, now it is all up to you. Continue contributing to the degradation of Internet bandwidth with the huge numbers of attempts required (many not even reaching their target) to get a single response, or try something that builds future relationships with new friends that are truly interested in what you are doing and not just trying to sell you something.

In closing, I do totally agree with Cody’s advice of not plastering affiliate links in your emails immediately upon making contact. While you may see a few others doing so, I believe the “indirect approach” will serve you and your business much better in the long run.
